PROPOSED SERVICE AREA ANNEX
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
05/17/2023
Several months ago, Osage Ambulance District and surrounding public safety agencies were notified that the COMM-Unity Ambulance Service would be closing and no longer providing ambulance services after June 1, 2023. Since being notified, emergency response agencies have been meeting and discussing the best way to continue providing ambulance coverage to those affected by this closure.
The Osage Ambulance District’s Board of Directors has approved an effort to annex the Northern portion of the affected area that mostly aligns with the Westphalia Fire Protection District’s coverage area into our official boundaries. This proposed area has been discussed with area emergency response agencies and is supported as the best solution for ambulance coverage in this area.
There is a legal process for adding area into an ambulance district and we have been working with state and local officials on those steps. Once the area has been identified, a petition must be drafted, and 50 signatures obtained from the proposed annex area. The petition is then submitted to the County for verification and then ultimately brought before the voters for approval of an official boundary line change.
Some major roads and properties affected by this include portions of Highway 133, Highway EE, County Roads 501, 502, 503, 504, 505, and the township of Folk.
We will have petitions circulating in the area for signatures. If you have any questions, please contact the business office at 573-897-0044 or contact EMS Chief Joshua Krull at joshua.krull@osageamb.net.
